Terms of Service
Last updated: May 2026. Plain English summary of what we do and don't agree to do when you sell us your old kit.
Who we are
We Buy Your Tech is operated from Shropshire, UK. Contact: tom@webuyyourtech.com.
What we do
We buy used and end-of-life IT equipment from UK businesses, collect it from your premises, sanitise it to NIST 800-88 and either refurbish it for re-use or recycle it through licensed channels.
Estimates
- Any quote we give before seeing the kit is an estimate, not a binding offer
- The final price is confirmed in writing on collection day, after a quick visual check
- If the kit is materially different from what was described (missing parts, smashed cases, drives ripped out), we may revise the price or decline to take it. We won't surprise you with a number, you can say no on the day
- Estimates are valid for 30 days unless we say otherwise
Your warranties
When you sell us equipment you confirm that:
- You own the equipment, or have the authority to dispose of it
- It's not subject to a finance agreement, lien or pending dispute
- It hasn't been reported lost or stolen
Data on your drives
- You're responsible for backing up anything you want to keep, before collection
- We sanitise drives to NIST 800-88. We don't read, copy or extract data
- Damaged drives that can't be verifiably wiped are routed to a licensed destruction partner with a destruction certificate, or returned to you, your choice on collection day
- We can't recover data from drives once we've started the wipe process
Payment
- Payment is by bank transfer on collection day, unless otherwise agreed
- We don't operate purchase orders or 30-day invoicing for jobs of this size
- A receipt is emailed within 24 hours of payment
Liability
- We carry public liability insurance for collection visits
- Our total liability for any single transaction is capped at the price paid for the equipment in that transaction
- We don't accept liability for indirect or consequential losses (lost data on drives you didn't back up, business disruption, etc) beyond what's required by law
- Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that can't lawfully be excluded
Cancellation
You can cancel any agreed collection up to 24 hours before the slot at no cost. Inside 24 hours, if we've already set off, we may charge a small travel fee. Just tell us as early as possible.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
